» back to Research

Known risk factors for stroke, including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking and hyperlipidemia, account for only about 50% of stroke risk. The purpose of this study is to gather information about the role of blood tests (such as C-reactive protein) that might help predict the risk of recurrent stroke in people who have already had a first stroke. These blood tests measure levels of inflammation in the body and have been thought to reflect an increased risk of stroke.

Eligible Participants

will consist of patients already enrolled into the SPS3 study.

Participation Includes:

blood tests
